autoimmune hepatic

Hello My brother has autoimmune hepatic for more than 14 years. The first time we knew about when he was 12 years old. He had a stomachache and itchy acne on his body. Then his skin and eyes turn yellow. Doctors found out that it is autoimmune hepatic. He had a different dosage of Ursoflor (Ursodeoxycholic Acid), Azaram (azathioprine), Prednisolone. As a result of steroid medicine (Prednisolone), he had osteoporosis last year. In addition, he got infected by a virus named CMV in his stomach. Therefore, he was hospitalized for more than 1 month in hospital last year and also had surgery on his spinal column and some therapy to cure that virus. But the pivotal issue is that now, these remedies, instead of making his liver better, don’t work for his liver and hurt other parts of his body as I mentioned. Would you mind if I ask that is there any better therapies instead of steroid which help him? Moreover, I should mention that at this time I am not in rome because I will come in fall semester as a master student of biotechnology. So, I want to know if there is new kind of therapy or new trial how it could be availible to bring my brother by myself to have this therapies? best regards Shiva Jahani
